Oštro.si is a non‑profit and independent online media outlet that cultivates investigative and data‑driven journalism, upholds the right to know as a fundamental human right, spreads journalistic knowledge, and contributes to the development of future generations of journalists. Its work is made possible through voluntary donations and funds obtained from calls for proposals issued by various organizations. All funding data is public, and the newsroom also presents its work and achievements in annual reports.

Independent journalism is not created by courage and ideas alone.

It grows from the trust of people who believe that the public needs media free from political and corporate influence. Media that take the time to verify information, explore complex stories, and address social issues others often overlook. Media committed to radical transparency in both their work and their funding.

Attention. Membership is not a subscription.

It is a decision to become part of a community that understands quality information is not a given. That free and high‑quality journalism will survive only if there are people willing to stand behind it.

Donations are used exclusively to fund journalistic work — investigation, fact‑checking, content production, and the development of the newsroom through the Incubator for future investigative journalists. Funding data has been published since Oštro’s founding and is available here.

You can cancel your membership at any time by writing to contact@ostro.si.

If you do not renew or cancel your membership, it will automatically renew after the one‑year period ends.

Yes. After verifying the interested legal entity and in line with editorial judgment, Oštro also accepts donations from legal entities, with whom we conclude a donation agreement. For more information, please write to us.
