The tracking device stopped emitting a signal before the waste item was transported from the place of disposal. The Maribor Public Holding company, majority shareholder of the Maribor Snaga, explained that the item most probably ended up in the waste sorting centre. On this occasion, they also warned us that the battery of the tracking device could have caused a fire in the sorting centre during the crushing of materials, therefore disposal of items containing batteries in mixed waste is irresponsible.

The tracking device did not detect a move from the area of Ljubljansko barje. The public utility company Vo-Ka Snaga deposits asbestos roof covering from the Barje collection centre at a landfill that lies only a few hundred metres away.

Ekogor sorts waste items by size. Metal parts are removed from items larger than eight centimetres, such as Oštro’s teddy-bear, while the rest is transferred to transferee companies for the production of thermal energy.

After the call to the municipal environmental inspectorate, the Vo-Ka Snaga company was ordered to clean up the site. The tracking device last registered its location at Ljubljansko barje, most probably at the Barje collection centre.
